British Telecom (BT) Phone Bill ScamHave you received a call from someone who claimed to be from BT, saying that your phone service would be cut off f you didn't pay the bill immediately? It may be a scam. The scammers will tell you that you can pay by credit card. You may have just paid they bill, but they'll say it hasn't come through. The scammers can't know how much you owe, so if they ask you for any amounts, like the amount of your last bill or how much you paid, that's a big clue to the scam right there. If you are contacted in this manner, do not give out any details, personal information, bank account or credit card information. Instead, dial 1471 to verify where the call originated. |
