Scam Investments and Business Offers:
Example:
Fidelity Investment International, from John Taylor, Funds manager
johntaylor002@yahoo.com

Did you receive an email from "John Taylor" at "Fidelity Investment International" who says:

"As an expert, I have made over 49.8million GBP from the investor's EMCRP and here by looking for some one to trust who can stand as an investor to receive the funds as annual Investment Proceeds from Fidelity Magellan Capital Funds."?

It starts out sounding like a legitimate business transaction, but as the victim corresponds with the scammer, it starts to become strange. You notice that this "Funds manager" is writing you from a free email account (Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc.) not an email account at the company (Fidelity Investment International) domain.

Perhaps, you notice his punctuation, spelling, grammar and just the way he phrases things seems, well, odd. Almost as if, he is not a native English speaker, or is not very well educated.

John Taylor wants you to either deposit a check or send him the "investment money" via Western Union.

In reality, it is all a scam.  "John Taylor" is not the name of the person who sent you the email.  It is the real name of a real employee at a real company by the name Fidelity Investment International, but that person did not send the email to you. The scammer hopes to con you into sending money for various "fees" to free the fortune.  If you would like a step by step explanation of how this type of "Advance Fee Fraud" works, click here!

Notice some of the other obvious signs that this is a scam are poor spelling , use of free Yahoo/Hotmail/etc email accounts, proposals that make no sense, etc.:
