Sample Scams Emails Involving the Irish National Lottery
How to
Recognize Them and What To Do If You Receive One
"The Irish National Lottery Maureen Fred (Mrs).,
Braint Clark, Mr. Dustin Menny, PEGASUS COURIER SERVICES
If you received an email from "Maureen Fred (Mrs).", claining to be from the Irish National
Lottery or the Irish National Lottery Online, and to contact Braint Clark to receive your
winnings, beware!
Next, you'll hear from "Dustin Menny" at "Pegasus Courier"! Where do the
scammers come up with these nonsensical names? Why does anyone believe
them? Why do scammers almost always end the names with a period (full
stop)?
This scam claims that there is a free online version of the Irish Lottery that
selects winners, randomly, just because they have an email address. Obviously,
this is just another scam. If you really believe that there is ANY organization,
anywhere in the world, that is going to give away millions of dollars weekly to
people who are selected at random from email addresses, then we will question
your sanity. And do you suppose that there is someone in Ireland named "Braint"?
Also notice the pathetic follow-up emails the scammers sent to the potential
victim!
We've
highlighted some of the obvious
clues that it is a fraud. Notice the the use of free yahoo email accounts (not
likely for a professional lottery!), gibberish phrases, many typos and
misspellings, etc. Note that they have even included the real logo, from the
Irish Lottery website.
See this page for much more
information.
