Sample Scams Emails Involving the Irish National Lottery
How to
Recognize Them and What To Do If You Receive One
"The Irish Lottery" Scam
Some of the scammers must be deliberately trying to see how absurd a scam they
can make. This one supposedly is from "Tony Brown" at "The Irish Lottery"
with a "Reverend Clerk Phillips" as the "Online Coordinator". Do you really
believe that minister is going to be working in a paid position, for a
LOTTERY? And a first name of "Clerk"? Probably a misspelling of "Clark".
Below is a scam email, received in February 2007 from "Tony Brown" at "The
Irish Lottery". of course, all of the names are fictitious. We've
highlighted some of the obvious
clues that it is a fraud. Notice the the use of free yahoo email accounts (not likely for a professional
lottery!), gibberish phrases, many typos and misspellings, the selection
by a "computer draw system" of random email balloting, so nobody buys a
ticket (NO lottery does this!) and other nonsense.
See this page for much more
information.
