Sample Scams Emails Involving the Irish National Lottery

How to Recognize Them and What To Do If You Receive One
"The Irish National Lottery
EURO MILLIONS PROMO/PRIZE DEPARTMENT" Scam

This one is a scam that attempts to confuse you by mixing up different lotteries all in one. They use the names "The National Lottery" (UK), "EuroMillions" and "The Irish Lottery". And just for good measure, they throw in "Royal High Court Of London", "Metropolitan Police Of London" and "Microsoft Corporation". Obviously, this is just another scam.

We've highlighted some of the obvious clues that it is a fraud. Notice the the use of free yahoo email accounts (not likely for a professional lottery!), gibberish phrases, many typos and misspellings, etc. Note that they have even included the real logo, from the Irish Lottery website.

The copyright from the future (2008) is nice, too.  We assume the scammer has also perfected time travel (copyrights can only be created AFTER a date exists).

See this page for much more information.
