Here's an intriguing scam.  The scammer, using a name like "Abel Dabul " claims that he has already contacted you, and in fact, you had agreed to a "funds transfer".  So, he's ready to happily send you a check for $1.3 million dollars! You just need to contact "Mr. Amechi Martins" in "the Benin Republic" . Of course, it's a scam. It is an AFF (Advance Fee Fraud). The check he sends will be a counterfeit and will bounce, but by then you will have already wired him (which will not bounce) money to cover various handling fees.

Some of the other obvious signs that this is a scam are poor spelling , use of free Yahoo/Hotmail/etc email accounts, proposals that make no sense, etc.:

Presently I'm in Trinidad and Tobago for investment projects with my own share of the total sum. Meanwhile, I didn't forget your past efforts and attempts to assist me in transferring those funds despite that it failed us some how.
 
Now contact my secretary in Benin Republic, his name is Mr. Amechi Martins on amartins750@yahoo.fr  and ask him to send to you the total of $800,000.00 which I kept for your compensation for all the past efforts and attempts to assist me in this matter in the past. I appreciated your efforts at that time very much. So feel free and get in touch with my secretary Mr. Amechi Martins and instruct him where to send the amount to you.

Please do let me know immediately you receive it so that we can share the joy after all the sufferness at that time. In the moment, Im very busy here because of the investment projects which me and the new partner are having at hand.

Finally, remember that I had forwarded instruction to the secretary on your behalf to receive that money, so feel free to get in touch with Mr. Amechi Martins, he will send the amount to you without any delay.
