Scams: I left Your Money at IMPEX COURIER SERVICES from Mr. John Basil

"I left Your Money at The Courier Service"
or "Security Company" Scam
IMPEX COURIER SERVICES
"Mr. John Basil", "Rev Mark Kelly"
"impex_comp_s@hotmail.fr"

If you receive an email from Mr. John Basil claiming they hadn't heard from you, or owed you money, and left it at "IMPEX COURIER SERVICES" (for some reasons, scammers love to capitalize every letter in a name), and now you need to contact Rev Mark Kelly at impex_comp_s@hotmail.fr to recover the money; well, by now you should immediately recognize it as a scam.  Why would someone you don't know owe you a huge sum of money, and leave it at a "courier" or a "security company or "IMPEX COURIER SERVICES" and tell you to contact Rev Mark Kelly in order to retrieve?  It simply makes no sense.  You should immediately dismiss it as a scam.

However, if you really have a desire to be a victim, and are saying to yourself "but, but, but... what if I just forgot that I'm owed a huge sum of money, or maybe they got me by mistake and will still send me the money".  Well, first, we'll tell you that's just pathetic.

Next ask yourself why Rev Mark Kelly, who presumably works at "IMPEX COURIER SERVICES" is having you write to him at "impex_comp_s@hotmail.fr". Shouldn't he have a real company address like "MarkKelly@IMPEX.com" ?

Here are some other clues to the scam:

  • Pigeon English - Notice that as the scammer gets past the initial template email and must write free-form, how his grammar, spelling and basic sentence structure go straight in the toilet.  The scammers don't even know how to use spell checkers.  After all, this is a stupid, low-life criminal in the heart of Africa, who probably dropped out of school at age 5 to join a gang or militia. Obviously, real businesses proofread their emails; they look and read more professional.

  • Using free email account: The scammer is writing to you from a FREE email account (Yahoo, Hotmail, Excite, AIM, Gmail, etc.).  Don't you think a real organization would use its own email, its own domain and website?

  • "IMPEX COURIER SERVICES" - Have you ever heard of IMPEX COURIER SERVICES? What is it's website?  Why wasn't that in the email?

Actual scam reply email (One example - the scammers constantly change names, dates and addresses!):

The recipient told us: "

This is the email I was sent and a cashier's check did arrive in the amount of $15000.00. I took it to my bank and they said it was a total fake. Who should I report this to?

Date: Tue, 29 Apr 2008 17:23:14 +0200 (CEST)

Goodday!!!

I have been waiting for you since to contact me for your Confirmable Bank Draft of $850,000 United States Dollars, but I did not hear from you since for a couple of weeks now. Then I went to the bank to confirm if the draft has expired or getting near to expire and BEN the Director Bank of Africa told me that before the draft will get to your hand that it will expire. So I told him to cash the $850,000 USD UNITED STATES DOLLARS to cash payment to avoid losing this funds under expiration as I will be out out of the country for a 3 Months Course and I will not come back till ending of July 2008.

What you have to do now is to contact IMPEX COURIER SERVICES as soon as possible to know when they will deliver your Consignment to you because of the expiring date. For your information, I have paid for the delivering Charge, Insurance premium.

The only money you will send to the IMPEX COURIER SERVICES to deliver your Consignment direct to your postal Address in your country is ($107.00 US) One Hundred & Five United States Dollars only being Security Keeping Fee of the Courier Company so far. Again, don't be deceived by anybody to pay any other money except $107.00 US Dollars. I would have paid that but they said no because they don't know when you will contact them and in case of demurrage.

You have to contact IMPEX COURIER SERVICES now for the delivery of your Draft with this information bellow;

Directors Name: REV MARK KELLY.

Companys Name: IMPEX COURIER SERVICES

Email Address: (  impex_comp_s@hotmail.fr   )

TelFax +229 93 66 29 12

Finally, make sure that you reconfirm your Postal address and Direct telephone number to them again to avoid any mistake on the Delivery and ask them to give you the tracking number to enable you track your package over there and know when it will get to your address. Let me repeat again, try to contact them as soon as you receive this mail to avoid any further delay and remember to pay them their Security Keeping fee of $107.00 US Dollars for their immediate action.

Note this. The IMPEX COURIER SERVICES don't know the contents of the Box. I registered it as a BOX of Africa cloths. They did not know the contents was money. this is to avoid them delaying with the BOX. Don'''t let them know that box contents money ok.

I am waiting for your urgent response.

Yours Faithfully,

Mr. John Basil
