Scam Investments and
Business Offers:
Example:
Fidelity Investment International, from Tim McCarron, Fidelity Fund Manager
Did you receive an email from "Tim McCarron" at "Fidelity Investment International" who says:
"Neverthless, as The Fidelity Fund Manager, I handle all our Investor's Direct Capital Funds and secretly extracted 1.2% Excess Maximum Return Capital Profit (EMRCP) per annum on each of the Investor's Marginal Capital Fund.As an expert,I have made over £45, 745, 000, 00 from the Investor's EMRCP and hereby looking for someone to trust who will stand as an Investor to receive the fund as Annual Investment Proceeds from Fidelity Marginal Capital Fund."?
It starts out sounding like
a legitimate business transaction, but as the victim corresponds with the
scammer, it starts to become strange. You notice that this "Fidelity Fund Manager" is writing
you from a free email account (Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc.) not an email account
at the company (Fidelity Investment International) domain.
Perhaps, you notice his punctuation, spelling, grammar and just
the way he phrases things seems, well, odd. Almost as if, he is not a native
English speaker, or is not very well educated.
Tim McCarron wants you to either deposit a check or send him the
"investment money" via Western Union.
In reality, it is all a scam. "Tim McCarron" is not the name of the
person who sent you the email. It is the real name of a real
employee at a real company by the name Fidelity Investment International, but that person did not send the
email to you. The scammer hopes to con you into sending money for various "fees" to free the fortune.
