Sweepstakes Scam Email:
POWER BALL LOTTERY E-WHEEL E-GAME
2007
INTERNATIONAL PROMOTIONS/PRICE AWARD DEPARTMENT
"Mrs
Lucy Albert, Group-Coordinator, and
Promise Green, Claim Processing Manager"
If you received an email from "Mrs Lucy Albert" of Powerball Lottery
E-Wheel E-Game" (whatever THAT might be!), you might look at the email more
carefully. Notice that "Lucy" cannot spell "February" and seems to think
that the month has 256 days! That's just the start of many typical scammer
errors. After all, they are working in Internet cafe's in Nigeria, not
exactly the hub of the intelligencia. But even if there were no spelling,
grammar, punctuation or syntax mistakes, it is simply not possible to win by
having an email address in a "computer balloting sweepstake"... because no such
thing exists. AN NO company, anywhere on this planet, is going to give away
money to "encourage internet users". It's just plain stupid to believe
that premise.
If you haven't
figured it out by now, we'll repeat; there is NO SUCH THING as a choosing
lottery winnings from lists of email addresses. Ask yourself why would anyone
give money away to strangers based on their email address. You'd have to
be begging to be a victim to believe this one.
Notice the gibberish writing,
excessive use of CAPITAL letters, etc. Note the other clues to an obvious fraud that we
have highlighted in the
letter; selected by a random computer lottery of email
addresses, use of free hotmail/yahoo email accounts, etc.
