You may have received an email like the one below that looks very authentic, like it came from UPS about misdelivered package. It is an attempt to get you to enter confidential information (typically a social security number, name, address, bank account information, etc., to allow the scammers to steal your identity and open credit cards in your name.
This email was not sent by UPS; UPS is a victim as well. This is referred to as "phishing" (when by email) or "vishing" (when by telephone). If you receive an email similar to the one below, DO NOT click on the link, and do not enter any information on the forms there.
The website that the link leads to is a spoof; a fake website, not created by UPS. It goes to yyy, not UPS! When you enter the information they ask for, you will simply be handing the thieves the keys to your bank accounts. That is how spoofing, phishing and vishing works.
Remember, no reputable business would send you an email or a phone call requesting your personal account information. Any such email you receive asking for this information should be considered phony and brought to the attention of the business being 'phished'.
Anytime you need to go to a website for your bank, credit card companies or other personal, financial or confidential information; do not follow a link in an email; just type their address in your browser directly (such as www.UPS.com ) To report scams using UPS's name, forward them to UPS at fraud@ups.com.
Below are actual phishing emails using the UPS name or logo. Remember, these did not come from the real UPS.

Hey,
I am located in Greece, Athens. That is why i am using the UPS-SCS to sell
this laptops anywhere in the world. But, let's be honest most of the buyers
come from the U.S. actually i already started to sell 25-30 per day from this lot
and 90% are sold in U.S.
I have 1300 left at the moment I am writing this e-mail. I do not accept COD
because i had problems in the past, i mean some buyers dropped the laptops
and they wanted to return it to me and had "issues" and i don't want COD
anymore.
So, because we can no physically meet and you cannot physically see it to
decide if you buy it or not we are left only with the offer / solution for UPSSCS
to ship it to you and allow you to inspect it before i get the funds in hand.
Of course, i must be protected as well, so, before they ship it you must deposit
the funds to UPS-SCS and if you decide, after inspection, that you do not want
