  1. Report received, April 18, 2008:

I was called by a "debt collection agency" and a computer message was left with a return phone and reference number. Theymentioned my name.

I called them back (thinking it was real, however I have no debt).  They asked for my number, had my name and said when our mortgage closed we still owed Wells Fargo $57 and did I want to pay it right now by credit card.

I said I did not owe this money (although 6 months ago we did close a loan with Wells Fargo) and I would call the bank. They quickly hung up.  I called Wells Fargo and was assured we do not owe them any money.

The number I called for this firm was 1-800-211-1435
