Have You Received a Scam Phone Call?
(804) 234-9010
Did you receive a call from (804) 234-9010 saying that since you had good credit,
you were eligible for lower credit card rates?
Don't send them money nor give them any credit card, bank account or other
personal information! At the very least, they are violating the U.S. Do not call
list regulations (see this page for
more information about the do-not-call list). Aside from that, they
could be legitimate, but given this practice, it don't think it is likely.
On the surface, this looks a lot like the "car warranty" scam (see this page
about the Auto
Warranty Expired scam).
Scammers are not just busy on the internet, they are burning up the phone lines
in attempts to scam people. See below for a consumer report of calls from (804) 234-9010,
an analysis and links to other information about (804) 234-9010:

Report received, July 2, 2009:
On July 2, 2009 at 9:39 am EST, a robodialer called from 804-234-9010,
identified in Caller ID as "Sales Department" and the recording said
"Congratulations. Due to your excellent credit you are eligible for
lower rates on your credit cards. Press one to speak to a representative or 2
for no further calls. This offer expires today!"
Or something close to that. I pressed 1 to speak to a live representative.
I asked how they got my number. The woman said "We pulled it out of a hat"
and laughed. I said "Well, I'm on the Do-not-call-list and that is illegal; at
which point she hung up on me.
