Job and Recruiting Frauds and Scam Emails: eBandSearch.com
Have you received an email like the one below, claiming to be from
We're currently investigating these. We noticed a
pattern when our own staff started receiving them in mid-January
2007 and now receive several per day. We created a dummy resume with a fake contact address, phone and email
that we set up to receive the response. After we filled out their online
form, the screen went to a blank page, no confirmation, no statement of what is
next, etc. These REALLY look suspicious. Even more suspicious, there is NO
contact information on their website at all; no address, no phone numbers, not
even an email address or feedback form. There is only a form to enter your
information and a cryptic login (with no way to register for it).
CFR RECOMMENDS THAT YOU DO NOT GIVE
THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION UNTIL WE CAN CONFIRM MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THEM!
Their goal appears to be to get
referral fees by getting you to sign up for online colleges. DO NOT click on the
links to "Click here to be removed from any future employment offers" .
If they contact you back with a login, as they did one victim, you will be
presented ads for online colleges -

way that they can be legitimate.

Technical Investigation
Email headers with AdminSolutionsGroup, which sends out nearly identical
emails, show there is a connection with www.kasambacareers.com, which
is also accused and suspected of being a scam data miner. The only information that
is publicly available is from the registrar for
their website that shows "Vanthom Designs" as the owner of the website,
which was registered on November 14, 2006, and uses an anonymous registration.
The ebandsearch.com registration is a private registration, so they've disguised
the name and contact information for the true owners / operators.

I got hooked into this one big time. I received the email from
joyce tomlinson yesterday afternoon, went to the site, entered my
info & also told them I'm interested in higher education
opportunities. I declined to get more information from each
individual school. Ultimately, there was no clear conclusion, so I
just closed the entire browser window.
I feel so stupid now. Anything I can do to help out, please let
me know. If you have any suggestions on how to proactively defeat
any potential attempts on their part, please let me know - I would
greatly appreciate it.
